The Sony Xperia Tablet Z has been officially unveiled in Japan and it
packs a powerhouse punch that should get tablet owners excited.
The new Sony tablet is just 6.9mm thick, making the device the
thinnest 10-inch tablet offering currently on the open-market. The
device is also light at just 495 grams.
Video gamers looking for a mobile tablet solution will be happy with
the devices crystal clear display which features 1920×1200 pixels of
resolution which are helped along by Sony’s Mobile Bravia Engine 2 technology.
Games and other applications are also given a big assist by the Sony Xperia Tablet Z’s processor which features Qualcomm’s Snapdragon
S4 Pro chip which has been clocked at 1.5GHz. Sony has paired its
powerful display and fast processor with 2GB of RAM and 32GB built-in
storage. Buyers needing more space can take advantage of the built-in
microSD expansion card slot.
Mobile camera enthusiasts should be happy with the
devices 8.1-megapixel Exmor R rear camera. The camera uses the same
sensor as found on the iPhone 5. Tablets have not traditionally had the
best camera setup so this feature should be a big win for Sony.
Sony has taken the Xperia Z tablet one step further, adding a special
coating that protects the device from water and dust. The special
coating has been applied on the outside and inside of the tablet,
ensuring even further protection.
Even with all of its power the Sony Xperia tablet Z is expected to
last for 8 hours thanks to a 6,000mAh battery. While battery life may
not be as long as some competing devices it is acceptable for such a
thin and lightweight device.
Sony’s newest smartphone offering
hits the market is March, unfortunately the company has not announced
pricing or a release date for the Sony Xperia tablet Z at this time.
