For those adrenaline junkies who enjoy filming their off-piste
exploits, the latest gadget from a California-based company is sure to
impress.
Whether off to Aspen, Whistler or the French Alps, action camera manufacturer Liquid Image Co
has devised the perfect aerodynamic goggles. The accessory is fitted
with a video camera, to allow skiers and snowboarders to stream their
daring, or dismal moves directly to an iPhone or Android device.
The Apex HD+ Goggles have a small video camera lens built into the
bridge, allowing the user to record in HD, take pictures with the
12-megapixel camera, and the Wi-Fi capability allows live streaming to
smartphones and tablets.
The model features a nifty adjustable camera lens and once the
‘ActionConnect’ free app for iOS and Android is downloaded, as well as
streaming live view, it can also act as a remote control to activate the
camera.
The audio features wind guard technology for high quality sound and
the goggles, containing an 8GB micro SDHC card, can also be connected
directly to a computer.
“The Liquid Image Apex HD+ is revolutionizing the way athletes, snow
enthusiasts and families alike can share their experience on the
slopes,” a Liquid Image spokesman said.
The product is the first snow goggle with full HD recording, built in
Wi-Fi and a rotating camera lens, among many other functions, and is
this week hoping to scoop the Innovations Design and Engineering Honoree
Award for Personal Electronics, at the world’s largest consumer
technology tradeshow, the Consumer Electronics Show, in Las Vegas.
The Apex HD+ goggles priced $399, can record 1080p video at 30fps,
720p video at 60fps and the batteries, concealed in the elastic band,
provide up to two hours of recording time.
